Hi all. I 've been doing some research and found this site. I've been searching and found some great info here. I'm hoping someone here can help me.
I took an old rusted up Carter cart and rebuilt it last year with my then 10 and 7 yo old sons. Looks like new with pretty much all new everything. We stripped it down and blasted and powder coated the frame. New bearings, tubes in tires/ new tires. Cut off the fron spindles and replaced with new. Rebuilt the jackshaft. New Predator 212 engine. New clutches. Great prject, but:
Just about every time they ride it, they "spring" the spring in the driven unit. I suspect I didn't get the right spring and buttons when I rebuilt the jackshaft. I also suspect the black spring that was in the unit when I got the cart may have not been the correct one. I've tried several blue and black springs with the same result.
It's a series 20 Comet driver with a 6" driven pulley. The motor and shafts are "opposed". This is not like I've seen most pictures of this arrangement. This makes me suspect I need a spring that is wound the opposite direction.
I could sure use some advice if anyone has some.
