Hello, I am 17

Hi guys,
I am 17 and a complete and utter novice. I have good technical skills, soldering, welding etc but I no nothing about go karts. As always, though I know nothing, I want to build one! Any suggestions as to how I go about it. Could someone please recommend a simple plan that I could use? I don't own any equipment, I use the stuff at my school's technology centre. Would love some help and advice even if it is "don't do it!"
