Hello guys! Im from Malaysia!! I'm currently building my very first go kart!! Since my parents won't allow me to use a welder so I have to make an all bolted frame. Yes the frame and the steering system are almost done now, but I have some issues with the rear axle. Im planning to make it dead axle(one wheel drive), so the right wheel(rear) is free spinning. My question is, can I attach the disc brake to the right wheel? Because the left wheel has no room for the braking system. If I do that, is it enough power to stop the kart? Thanks.

Welcome!! Any wheel that is touching the planet can be used for a brake system. Your right rear wheel would be no less effective at stopping the kart than any of the other 3 wheels.

Although I can't disagree with ECEG, the most effective wheel would, obviously, be the driven wheel; think about it, with the power at one wheel & the brake on the opposite wheel, if you press both pedals at the same time you go in circles...
