Hello all
After looking on here for a few months as a guest at all the great karts you have all made, I decided to register and get on with building a gearbox/shifter kart.
Will be starting with a used Swiss Hutless kart chassis (Paid £25/$15), and a Honda VFR400 engine (Paid £70/$40 for one complete engine with carbs and one incomplete for spares). I would have liked a smaller 2 stroke, tz125 or rgv250, but they were way out my price.
Looking at making a custom drive sprocket just now to go from a 16 tooth 520 pitch to a more kart friendly 30 tooth 420 pitch. This will hopefully keep the gearing useful with the reduced rear wheel diameter, and allow me to work up to higher top speeds.
I am still sourcing parts and materials but will start a build post when I have some useful work to show.

... & you're gonna put that big engine on that poor little kart? I feel sorry for the kart :worried2:

Thank you for the welcome.

Got my rear sprocket and exhaust manifold today. Just have to persuade the engineers at work to let me use the lathe to get the front caliper set up built. Hopefully my wheel will arrive before the weekend so I can get a better idea of the dimensions I am working to.
