Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum and Go Karts. I'm hoping to build a Cooler Kart. I have a B&S 1150 series 250cc engine I would like to use. It came off a John Deere pressure washer. I'm in South East Texas. I have a bunch of questions but I will save them for a new thread in the main forum area. I have 13 years experience as a machinist. I can fab most of the parts but i will have to find someone to weld it all together. I look forward to learning from you.

Regards,
Dennis

Welcome fellow Texan! Im in the S E as well,Houston. Where abouts are ya in this big ol state? Im a machinist too, almost 20 years, manual and cnc. X2 on the welding, it sure makes it easy when you can design it, machine it,weld it all together, and sit back n grin.... I've never had formal lessons. I asked some questions, watched a couple times, then picked up a stick n started welding away. Puddles, holes, mud dobber welds.... looked like crap at first, now not so bad.... Its a lot easier than keeping +.001-0.0 for 60+ inches.... ..... If your close enough, maybe we could meet up one day and I can show ya what i mean....

Hi Firemanjim,
I'm a little S.E. of Beaumont in Bridge City. About 2 hours away. Thanks for the offer. But until I can get a welder there is no sense in seeing how to do it if I can't practice. :( I have 13 years as a machinist. Mostly manual lathes & mills but also CNC. There was one part I remember making. It was .250 square .125 thick with a milled step on the face that had a .0002 tolerance. It was milled on a manual Bridgeport.
