Hello from Michigan

Hello, I'm from SE Michigan. This past summer I drove my friends go kart for the first time and loved it. My wife and I have 10 acres of vacant land which is all basically a hay field we let a local farmer take all the hay.

I started looking at go karts on eBay in hopes of finding something with suspension that could do between 30-40mph. I can not find much in my area used. What new go karts are recommended for an adult weighing about 200 pounds? The land is fairly level.

Check out craigslist.
There are some Yerfdogs with suspension listed on Detroit's craigslist.

If looking to buy new, not sure what to tell you. They make chinese buggys, but I don't think I would want one. Just me. I have no reason to not like them,

This DIY go Karts, so expect a bunch of people to tell you to buy used or weld up a frame yourself and build it from scratch.

I feel your Craigslist frustration... Mostly overpriced crap here in SE Michigan. I much prefer to build from scratch, but I've got a few buddies that are all wanting to get some basic yard karts so we can tear things up a bit and hopefully eventually get our kids into it if the wives allow it, though they're all still a bit on the young side at the moment.

I currently do not have the tools or space to build from scratch. Maybe after we get a pole barn and house up on our ten acres in a few years. Does anyone on here build from scratch to sell? Anickode, I see you are in SE Michigan too and build from scratch.

I did find a few karts for sale on Craigslist. Looking into them right now.

If you're looking for buggy style karts, there are lots of those on CL here, and some of them are reasonably priced. I much prefer old school bare-bones fun karts. Might change my mind in another decade when my body is a little less tolerant of the jolts and vibration, but I hope not.
