We've recently had a spate of threads posted in the incorrect sections; I can see how this could be ok here but, as there's no real specifics of the kart, it's more like an intro so, here's what I'll do: I'll move this thread to the intro section &, when you start working on the kart, start a new thread in the go kart discussion section...

Welcome to the forum :)

If you retain the Briggs and get it running properly, you will have attained enlightenment..and my deepest respect. No charge for the photo hosting (on my post). :innocent:

That kart is too big for your 5 year old. Mr. Safety® does not approve.

Just say it's for yourself and for your 5 year old to inherit once he turns 18; a legal adult. There's no shame in admitting you obtained it for yourself...

It's step #1 on the path to enlightenment.
...:rolleyes::):D

Does it really matter? Hardly any yard karts have proprietary (brand-specific) parts for them and even if it did, you wouldn't be able to find much of any.

Does it have any decals on it or anything that might say what the manufacturer is?

well, i guess it doesnt. it doesnt have any decals or anything, its been painted over 2-3 times. the only thing i can get is the fun kart engine number and model, but they were sold for whatever kart u wanted to put them on. i guess i was just more curious than anything else.

My pleasure. You should do a refurbishment thread... in the proper subforum of course. ;)

If you want to strip all the paint off and start from the bottom, aerosol paint strippers in the can work great. There may be brush-on versions too. Saves a lot of labor when you can scrape the paint off like peanut butter.

Here's one done up nicely by Kartfab: http://kartfab.com/vintage-go-kart-restoration/bristers-thunderkart
