I've always been fascinated in creating motorised vehicles; I constructed my first minibike in high school approximately 50 years ago, inspired by plans from Popular Mechanics. I built up a couple of cars, one of which was an old British mini that I chopped up and converted into a mini shorty (it drove like a go-kart). My late father was a devoted PM subscriber and hobby boat builder who drew inspiration from the PM38. I am currently thinking about building a little go-kart for my grandson.

Welcome! Don’t think about building a gokart for your grandson, do it! And make the little crumb picker help you too. You’ll build many memories together and learn him a thing or two while you’re at it.

Welcome to the forum. How old is your Grandson? If old enough to pay attention, and grasp more or less what Gramps is doing, then for sure do like Denny suggest. Include him in the building process. The knowledge that he will gain from working with you will stay with him for the rest of his life. It even works with Granddaughters. I have taught both.

Hi, he is only a toddler, so I am looking at first something down scaled, and then when he is a bit older to get him involved in building something bigger and more fun
