Hey all! We (my son and I) are new to go-karts but not new to projects. We recently drug Home two off road karts, a Hammerhead Mudhead 208 and a YerfDog 3202 that we got on a trade for an old Pelican 8ft bass boat that had been sitting in the back yard for almost 10 years. Both Karts are in rough shape with rust, missing parts and in the case of the YerFDog, mismatched front end parts that don’t play together.
Our last project, dubbed the “Motorized Big Wheel”, was a combination of parts from 2 bicycles and an electric scooter combined to make an electric trike...I mention this because I noticed there is an electric project section on the forum. (Sweet)
With the two karts, we also got 3 engines; a running predator 212, a 5hp Flat head Briggs that has spark and compression and an LCT 208 with no spark but has compression...we have also got ahold of an old Sears tiller with a 3hp Briggs on it,... we’re thinking of transplanting the 3hp onto the trike.
Currently the YerfDog is torn down and parts have started arriving, the plan is for a home brew dual A-arm front suspension and replacing the “brush guard” with something closer to an actual roll cage and generally making something cool.
And if anyone cares, we’re also building a trebuchet with a 12ft throwing arm and the capability to hold up to 300lbs of counter weight.
Thanks for having us here on the forum! I suspect we’ll be busy over the Thanksgiving break reading as much here as we can!
