Hi - my real name is Andrew, but you can call me cr0sh...
I came to this forum via this thread:
http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10181
...and after saving the thread and images - I decided to register, because I had a question. But I will post that in an appropriate place.
Anyhow, my interest here is mainly to see how others are doing whatever in the area of "DIY Go Karts"; I do have an idea of building some things as a future project that could fall into this kind of thing, so I think seeing what others are doing, browsing tips, etc - could help me later.
My interests mainly center around my robotics hobby; I work full time as a software engineer for a local small company (nothing to do with robotics or karting).
One of the things I want to build is a buggy-like robot chassis; something like the old Parallax QuadRover, or maybe larger like the old CMU Terragator 6wd vehicle. Or perhaps I could make something like that 1/2 scale Mule and automate it; I don't know - all dreams right now.
I have fabrication experience; a friend of mine has a full metal shop where we work on electric wheelchairs and scooters for his non-profit; here's an article ARC magazine did about him:
https://content.arcmagazine.pub/back-in-the-drivers-seat-ad69a8d97638
Through helping him rebuild and customize wheelchairs, among other things, I've upped my skills in fabrication over the years. I'm not the greatest, but every little project helps.
Anyhow, I'm glad to be a part of this forum; I might not post much, but I will be around occasionally. Thank you, everyone!
