And don't mind Jim....he got his head bumped in a recent twister......:lolgoku:

Thank you all

Just to give you all a little background of myself I have been a mechanic since 1991 and I do have small engine experience also that is what I really started my career on. I went overseas in 2006 to work as a general contractor and just got back a year ago for good while I was away the in-laws purchased a kart for my triplet boys whom are Autistic and have nothing to do with it. I started out by repairing the brakes, new tires and rebuilt the carb installed the governor springs correctly, it runs pretty good but the carb needs replaced the butterfly shaft is very loose which is causing it to not idle well but the main reason I was on this forum was to find out about steering, it looked to me as the kart had been wrecked and the spindle arms were bent so I cut them off and straightened them and welded them on at 90 degrees and reinstalled them and set the toe in, it made a huge difference on how it steered but I still think it needs improved. I was intrigued by all the information on this forum about how to set up the Ackerman I learned a lot about it and plan to do some changes I am just undecided what that will be as of yet since I am just starting out and I have lots of reading to do so when I get ready to start my changes I will most likely be asking you all some questions so again thank you all for the welcomes.

Wow, I'm impressed, your second post ever includes the work "Ackermann", that means you've done some research, thanks for that

Post some pics of the kart & we'll help any way we can; you'd be amazed the difference Ackermann makes...
