Heat Damage

LOOOOng time lurker. i have trolled this forum for several years. decided to make an account when i couldn't find anything on this subject.
Is that heat damage? what can prevent it? :huh:

ill explain further. i have a straight header on and the case off of the air filter. "hi flow". but my carb is not yet rejetted. could it be a heat issue from running it lean?

Nope. Either you have a warped flange and a gasket leaking because of it or you just have a plain old blown out gasket. Sorry to disappoint you. Once you get the leak figured out then correct you're jetting.

Header flange isn't flat...
My first attempt looked like that.
Ground it flat, checked with a flat edge.. Good after that.

Yaaaa...... but since you dont have a brace to the exhaust anyways, why not fix that and add a brace to the frame so that doesnt potentially break exhaust studs and give you more problems.

Its a really simple fix...

That exhaust looks kinda heavy, which will pull down & cause a leak exactly where the black mark is; as advised, replace the gasket & brace the exhaust to prevent a recurrence...
