Head gasket quick fix?

Anybody ever use one of those snake oil just pour it in head gasket sealers?

Which one and how well did it work?

I've only heard of Barrs leak... It did help a bit for my woman's old cutlass... But it's just a bandaid. It'll need work eventually.

Thanks. I plan on verifying that it is a head gasket causing it to overheat tomorrow.

There's a couple of other new ones on the net.

I plan on driving it as is because I won't need to use it much or go very far....but I'll have to go much further to get another engine and that's when I plan on putting the stuff in.

I'm gonna try to find a core and build it up and then just swap them.

If it's not terrible, Bar's or Blue Devil will work, maybe, forever/ a little while.

Lol, there are a lot of variables, and I wouldn't use it in a vehicle I truly used about, but if it's just kind of bad, on a beater/driver, I'd give it a shot.

Just my luck. The mechanic at the only place I trust was off today, it was his day to renew his ASE certification!

So...it'll be tomorrow before I know.

Meanwhile, I beat up the tailgate reassembling it. Oh well it wasn't quite ready for paint anyway.

Hey, I used to have my ASE Gas and Diesel Master Engine Machinist and Assembly Technician until I let it lapse.

Also pepper... as in a typical shaker from a restaurant. Dump the lot in the rad, the little pepper bits stick in the leak spots, and swell to seal the leak.

Yeah...I've done that to seal radiator leaks..IDK about a head gasket....quite a bit more pressure involved.

Yeah, I've never had success with any of the "rebuild in a can" products. People always say they do, but I never got any of them to help me, I quit buying them and trying them long ago.

Well....stick a fork in this one. Unless that mechanic lied to me...he tested the cooling system for hydrocarbons and came up empty....so I won't be using any of those products as I don't have a head gasket leak.

If I did, I was going to use Steelseal. At $100 for a 6cylinder treatment, it better be all it's advertised as. I couldn't find anything bad about it...and they have a pretty amazing video of the stuff in action, and it's supposed to be permanent.
