Out of curiosity how many broken flywheels have you found examples of so far?

3 broken flywheels: 1 completely shattered, 1 cracked in half, and one magnet flew off of it
1 con rod through the block
1 fan/pullstart failure
1 cam failure

This is just from submissions, not from any searching on my own as i dont want to steal other peoples content.

I broke a stock rod on a non hemi Predator 212 around 2010-2012. It had a "stage 1" NR kit. It had stiffer valve springs, an advanced flywheel key, emulsion tube and main jet, open header and free flowing air filter. The governor was intact, but I had tweaked the spring and adjusted the throttle stop.

The last item I put in was the stiffer valve springs. That seemed to do the trick, the rod loudly went the the block. Maybe the governor blew apart IDK. Coincidently this happened just before the warranty expired.

Mr. KartFab, I don't understand why you are getting resistance to this query at another forum. But I hope you continue your efforts, learning and sharing.

I used to turn a stock hemi flywheel over 7k RPM every time I took out my mini bike. Never had an issue. 26lb springs. Black mamba jr cam. GX390 carb.. Never kept a stock rod in any of my engines.

I have done the same, until my predator flywheel magnet took flight and turned into dust at around 5k haha

Haters gunna hate. No big deal. I think the guy might have had a bad day and misinterpreted what I was asking. Good guy.

That's actually normal for 4cycle. One reason I don't go there anymore.

Man I've been getting so much feedback, so its good either way. Lots of stuff coming in. I actually value differences of opinion, and even *gasp* criticism, especially when it is coming from experienced people. Always something to learn, even if its coming from someone who is having a bad day or is not understanding what I am asking. Could be that I am not asking the right question, or I am needing to ask in a better way.

This happened to my motor at 35% nitromethane. 30 was fine, so let’s bump her up a bit, lol. Feel free to use that. One of my threads had a picture of when I had a stock rod take out the whole top of a GX160 but I have no idea where that’s at.

haha thats crazy. Ive seen plenty of busted blocks before usuallly compression, timing, and piston to head clearance in any of those combinations is the culprit.

I found the gx160 rod pics and i'll use those, but ill save the block bustin pics for another video.

I break a lot of stuff and you’re welcome to use any of my pictures as you see fit. I’m always pushing some kind of limit, and I plan on going stock appearing racing again this year, so I’m sure there’ll be plenty more breakage.
