I’m kind of disappointed in the head. It has a hemi like combustion chamber with a wedge like valve layout. I wish it had a better quench area.

Make the judgement after trying it out. It may be fine as is. Still want to know what aftermarket parts will fit and what parts we need to wait for to be available.

The chamber is the same as a gx200 , just slightly deeper/ more volume.

I seen the wrist pin diameter is larger than other predators/clones.

So I ordered #6773 ducar/tillotson ARC billet rod, and genuine honda cast aluminum flywheel as the taper is the same.
I have some spare mod2 cams for hemi pred and honda/ clones, so its getting one of those and 1.3 :1 ratio rockers,
chrome moly push rods, and 20lb springs.

Not much to wait for, everything needed is on the shelf.

Still not a fan of the chamber shape. Wish it was more of a wedge or heart shape to promote better mixture swirl and mixing. Just my opinion.

If anyone is wondering what it takes to put a billet rod + cam in one these, I dids it check it out.
Lots of material needs taken out the cam, in the center section and on the inner side of the lobes,
plus a few spots in the block.

I think the cut up side cover is a requirement to build one these up, just from my personal experience so far.

Sounds like it's more trouble than what it's worth for the average modder. I'd rather have drop and play rather than having to do clearancing to make it work.

Totally , it is a bit more advanced to built out. The regular 212 is better for many diy folks. But for me, It's worth it for the extra stroke , forged crank ,block reinforcement. ect. I enjoy making things work that should not, so im all about it.

the 224 i procured from my local HF was like karls, i got it from the back room, but the store manager gave it to me instead of me going back there to get it lol.

karl, when you carved it up, cam and block did you think it was too much for structural problems later?

I'm guessing it'll be a few weeks or a month until they are listed online. At the moment only the 79, 212, 301, 420, and 670 are listed.
my local HF still does not have them on the floor for sale, which is strange since they have them in the back room

They might be in back. I'm getting an error message for that engine. To the point where I can't even post the link on here. From the picture they have of it, it lacks electric start which kind of sucks.

Nice, I think it will be alright. More concerned about the cam, not a whole lot was really taken from the block.
The cam card itself states "may require clearancing between lobes w/billet rod", so If dyno cams
says it's ok to remove material, I think/hope it will be alright.

This 459cc should be interesting!

Had to use DuckDuckGo to actually see the new 459cc. So they claim its rated for 15.8hp (we know what happened last time engines were rated by HP) and has 10% more torque than any engine in its class.

Where I'm not a fan of is its lack of electric start and a stator charging coil. So whoever they are sourcing these engines from, does not offer these with electric start. If I had to guess, same company that makes the VC460 kit builds these too.

So how long until the 212 and the 420 engines are completely phased out? I believe this is the 3rd generation of the Predator engines, the first gen had the 346cc which was discontinued relatively quick.

Positive crankcase ventilation in predator motor. Automotive PCV valve , open valve cover breather.

If the valve cover breather were tapped in the right place (hemi), ie; before the high-speed flapper valve instead of after, wouldn't it be much easier to apply the PCV valve inline there to the carb inlet? Gravity oil return is the only reason I've ever been able to justify the block penetration for that, which BTW gets a lot more oil thrown into it.

So is it true the 459 has a pressurized oil system? Guy at work bought one and said it did. Im skeptical

Kind of looks that way. RBG has a video up of it. Watching it right now. I'm dumb, it is electric start, but it has a momentary switch and not a key switch that we are used to seeing on electric start engines.
