I picked up a yerf dog that had a seized 6.5 hp Tecumseh engine. I bought the harbor freight 6.5 predator engine. I have a couple of issues. The throttle doesn't really have a return spring on it but that is not a big deal. I can buy a spring, and attach it wherever I think. The big question is the old engine is 3/8" longer on the output shaft. I need to keep the spacer on the engine side of the clutch so the the clutch pulley lines up. That only leaves me with 3/8" of shaft left for the outer part of the clutch. The keyway works. The old engine only used 3/4" shaft. Is it enough? I cannot move the sprocket on the axle . Advise please. Thanks!!

If I understand you right 3/8 is enough. That's what I have on the junk yard dog.

I'm new to this forum, I tried to attach a picture of what I'm dealing with. Let me know if you can see it. Thanks

The way it is now I will need a longer bolt , I'm just worried that it'll mess up the end of the shaft with only 3/8" of contact as opposed to 3/4" contact on old engine

The pred throttle plate needs to be loosened a bit(10mm socket) then it'll return...

As for the "clutch" you have... That is a cvt or TC as it is known...
More pics will tell for sure..

Most engines nowadays only afford about a 1/4 inch for the TC driver on the driveshaft.
It looks awful, and it is, but it works.

We'd all feel better if the driver had more purchase on the driveshaft, but it's just not going to happen with the newer engines.

I suggest you google cleaning torque converter and do that while it is apart to avoid other problems.

I don't know if it will help any, but I just came across a phone number you might try to call to fix your problem. 888-389-5522

I'm dying to know whose number you just put out there.

So what I've figured out. I have access to a machine shop and what I did was make a bushing ( like cutting the end off the old shaft. Ill pick up a longer bolt today. I loosened the pivot for the throttle and it returns great now. I rotated the pull 180° . Hope to have it running tomorrow. Thanks for all the help!!

Update!! Runs great. Doing spindles this week. Only problem left is the engine kill switch. It's a single wire and I grounded it like it was on the other engine but it doesn't work. I even grounded it with the engine kill switch ground and nothing. What am I doing wrong?
