I've been waiting for my clone which is on back order... So I got bored and messaged them...Here is their response.

Grrr! Anyone else currently have this problem? I ordered mine around the 21st of May...

The GC kinda discolors my pant legs because of the exhaust facing forward...

If i had a doodle bug, and a sled engine i'd do it, i mean it probably would just flip over at the blip of the throttle, but atleast if you ever get going you'll be able to beat any other minibike on the block

Meh...maybe a Arctic Cat Kitty Kat engine. I went to my engine storage place (2nd floor barn) and noticed a 5HP briggs! Connected onto a broken water pump. So, I'm prying the plastic pump off. It's still stuck...sprayed with some liquid wrench and left under pressure. So hopefully I'll have that one to play with. Should have better torque and it has a nice throttle hookup on it!

So why are you buying a clone when you got a perfect flatty?
I would just cancel the clone and mod that, there endless things you can do for power on a 5hp flatty.

Because I like blue engines. =P I don't know if this engine runs yet. Plus it's really heavy.

Duck tape will fix anything, and tie like 10 helium balloons to it and it will be much lighter

On the serious side, you should make a kart or something with that flathead, there nice engines. I got one sitting in my shed right now off a tiller, just need to clean the carb out and remove the governor (it doesnt have linkage).

A friend of mine just ordered his on June 2, it shipped on June 4, and will be delivered Tuesday....

It sounds like you may have gotten screwed...

The flatty 5hp...I don't know how you knew it was a flatty btw... I started it on ether (lazy). Revved up then the pull start cord... Gets caught in the flywheel and makes the loudest screeching noise ever! Now its stuck fast in there and the stupid pull cover is riveted on... So I stuck the engine right back were I found it.

Drill out rivets and replace with small nut/screws. Reassemble with Loktite blue.
Sleeve/shaft on recoil needs oil.

You have a lot of things here to take!

I've decided that if they don't ship me a clone after Tuesday. I'm going to fully cancel my order and get a TAV with the saved money.

I would enjoy the clone as they have ALOT of bolt on parts and I know where to find them. Plus I like how it looks.

Eagle, any update on the status of your order?

5HP B&S won't just drop into a DB-30. The fuel tank & rear fender will hit.

A 3.5HP B&S I/C engine will just make it, but a regular B&S 4HP won't clear.

Of course you could modify or remove the rear fender & have the clearance you need. Or a shorty fuel tank. A Tecumseh with the tank up front drops right in.

Eagle, any update on the status of your order?

Well what happened is I paid with a visa gift card and they don't know how to get money off of them..? Something stupid and they lied to me too about the order status. No more Harbor Freight.

The flatty runs fine now! Just regapping the coil and gonna look at the fly key while I'm at it.
