No, its not normal for engines to excessively smoke out the muffler/pipe during the break-in period.

Is the smoke blue colored, from burning oil? (did you overfill the engine oil by any chance?)

Or is the smoke black, from an excessively rich fuel mixture or carburetor malfunction? (did you do anything to the carburetor to cause the problem?)

I see some discoloration on your chain, but I'm not so sure that was caused by engine smoke...

How tight is your chain?
It seems really tight in your pic, does it have a 1/2 inch of freeplay?

Drain the stock oil once it heats up and put in some 10w-30. That stuff they provide is junk.
