Hello, I was just wondering if there were any aftermarket exhausts, cold intakes, or other engine upgrades available for this engine. I would also like to know if anybody else has upgraded one, and what they thought and what to expect of it. General thoughts on the engine appreciated as well. Thanks!

These engines are "clones" and there are many different brands of the same thing. All knock-offs of Hondas. Many, many people have modified these engines.

Have a look around the forum and the 'net; plenty of examples out there. Usually people get about 8-9hp or more out of one.

r_chez? This is where you come in :lolgoku:

I've ran header, intake, jet, springs and noticed impressive gain, I went with the $75 kit, of course this was on a Greyhound engine but they're all the same, I would put the kit on a Predator, you might want to buy a valve spring compression tool to make the task easier, especially if you ever plan on doing more than one

I don't get how the cold air intake will work with the gas return and OHV line running to the airbox housing.

Also were the valve springs accessible from just removing the OHV cover? thanks!

First- "OHV line-" is actually the crankcase breather. Stick a cheapo automotive fuel filter on the end of the hose, and you're golden. Second- "OHV cover"- that IS the valve cover- so, yes.

Personally i would go with a different filter. That one has a rubber end with a small hole in it(i have one). To use it you would have to slide a tube into the hole, clamp it off, and then run a hose from the valve cover to the tube. It would work, but a small fuel filter would be a better option IMO.

The internal crankcase breather filter (looks like a very rough sponge) in my engine is pretty dirty/oily. Should I worry about replacing it or just clean it up very well. Note: this is an old engine.
