ha for me its a jumper for anything below 10
but ill happily work in the sun in 40 + temps

i wish i could just go skiing on the week end

the only thing negative temps mean for us is our crops are frosted and stuffed
or I'm trying to drain oil at work and the dam stuff is like molasses

Yea, 30 degrees is beginning to push it for me haha I think I might get a fan for my garage.....would certainly make it useable in summer

I wish Australia had taller mountains and more of them....its still a 6 and a half hour drive to the ski fields for me.....

One 20 mins away would be nice, I might even try snowboarding then.......

I didn't even know you guys had ski mountains.

I can get from the beach to the ski slopes in a little less than 3 hrs.

The New Zealand ski fields are supposedly pretty good, give me a fighter jet and a parachute....I'll get there in 2 hours


I honestly dont mind this going off topic, just need to sneak in a bit of stuff thats on topic too haha. Heres a video of the engine running, my friend came around and gave me a hand getting it going. It idles nicely now, but for some reason when you try to give it some throttle it just stalls.

Would that be because the main jet is too small and its just starving, or something else? Its running an old tecumseh carb with adjustable jet so I can tweak it. Currently its about 2-1/2 turns out from fully in, it was struggling to idle at 1-1/2 and seems to run better how it is now (have also changed the idle screw a bit), but still no revving.

After this we put a straight pipe on it just for fun, sounded like fireworks haha

Seems america isnt the only place flooding at the moment. Im now pretty sure thats whats going wrong with my engine lol.....I tried to rev it and it stalled again, but this time I checked the plug

Yea it might be the fuel mix, but it was only mixed up the other day and was pretty spot on to 25:1. When its opened really slowly it will pick up some revs, and then stall still. It gets more revs than if its just gunned, but still pretty bad

Im back again with some more updates, as in my other thread the engine still runs like garbage but the rest of the frame is now basically done bar some littles extras. I want to add some more seat supports at the back, a gusset behind the seat on each side and footplates on the front for the pedals, oh and the brake pedal and floor pan

The brake still needs to be mounted and bled and I need to get the chain off fallenleopard. Then it will finally be drivable.

I put some matt black paint on it for now to slow the rust, i like the colour though so it may end up similar. Tell me what you think so far

If the photos dont appear ill upload them tonight, my mums ipad doesnt seem to like it. Edit: yep ill fix it tonight

And as always I forgot haha, Ill go find those photos now and upload them. The kart has since been out for a drive and had many issues to boot. Lack of power and the engine running too rich were the main concerns, thats mostly gone now, could still do with a bit more power to be fair but that will come in time with eventual tweaking.

Estimated top speed based on the calculator is just under 60 km/h, more likely around 55. I had it out today getting the engine running right and ended up powersliding and drifting it around haha, im happy so far....photos to come

Yea my main reason for doing it was just to get some experience and fun, I'm not sure how much all up but Id guess around $150. Pretty cheap in retrospect

And nah toystory, but I should make a carrying rack on it as a tribute to its past haha

There's still a few things to do then I'll get a vid up. What is the likelihood of a buildoff next year? Ive been wanting a mini bike for some time, or was it just karts?

We have all intentions of hosting a 2013 Build-off! Like last year, we will put out a feeler survey to basically see who's ready, willing, and able- and take it from there. Primarily, timing is in question. If you look over last year's rules, you'll see that the potential subjects go WELL beyond go karts and most certainly includes minibikes.

Sorry guys, been a bit busy. Thanks Fabroman, I always intended for it to cost virtually nothing...I eventually realised that couldnt happen, but I guess it did haha

And that sounds great toystory, I half built a minibike frame in between exams at school this year so I'll see what I can do with that maybe, I basically need to fully rebuild the frame anyway haha....best bit is I'm happy to work on it anytime of the year. Australias weather is quite good lol

EDIT: Oh, and I realised those photos I posted arent fully recent, the chain is mounted now and im using a different carb for the time being.

make floor pan
foot plates for the pedals
hook up and mount the brakes
mount a better steering wheel boss
make a bullbar and whatever else I just forgot
