Hi all. I posted in the new guy section but have not received any responses, so I thought I'd ask in this area since it has much more traffic.

I am looking to get a kart with suspension to have fun with my 3 and 5yo boys. Are the Hammerheads worth buying? I would be buying used and fixing it up, but I don't want to buy something that will just fall apart every time we take it out, which from experience I know to be a problem with some Chinese stuff.

Thanks!:cheers2:

Hammer-Head is worth buying.
Big company, good customer service, and plenty of available parts.

Awesome, thank you. I am looking at the 150s as they would be large enough for my wife and me to drive. Is there anything in particular I should look at closely while buying a used one of these?

Basically whether or not it was cared for. The overall condition can tell you a lot. But, not everything. Look at the suspension components. Do they look like it's been jumping 30 foot jumps?
I don't have long term experience with them personally, but I have customers that own them. One is a pos, and was treated as such. 3 others are in stages ranging from 6out of 10 to a 9.5 out of 10..... BUT those 2 owners take great pride in their rides, and are treated as such. The 9.5 kart is in almost showroom condition but is 3+ years old. Has its own spot in the garage, and comes in for service once a month.
For this reason alone, I say, the overall condition, should tell you a lot.

Thank you sir. I'll be on the lookout for one that isn't too beat to heck. There are a couple that "run but not well" out there and I can take care of the engine work assuming that the parts are reasonable and not to difficult to get. I don't mind doing a little work on it as it will teach my kids something if they have to work to enjoy it.

+2 on how well it's cared for. I have a kesea(sp?) and a twister, the twister was more or less decently taken care of and still looks very nice for an 05 model (had to rebuild the engine, but the rest was fine), the other one is the pre-cursor to the twister, a 2002-2003 model and it was very much run hard and put up wet, but mechanically it's still good go.

Parts are easy to come by and for the most part cheap, and they're simple to work on and a blast to drive. do be careful though, they're easy to roll :-D
