Sure..
2014
but it's MODEL-year not necessarily year of manufacturing.
(so a 2014 model can be made as early as june 2013 and as late as september 2015)

it's made by
Shanghai Howhit Machinery Manufacture Co
you guessed it in Shanghai China (1699 Shuguang road)
modelcode is DB1509
D designating model year

Thanks! How did you find that? I searched for about an hour and didn’t see it anywhere. And Hammerhead’s website didn’t have any thing either.

oops, miscounted... 2014 (fixed above)

it's easy actually once you know that chinese fun vehicles use proper vin codes

first is country of origin, (L is china in this case)
that's part of the WMI (world manufacturer id), (L6K is shanghai Howhit)
followed by the internal model code (DB1509)
followed by model year code
starting in 1971 with 1; numbers, then letters, rolling over every 30 years
I,O,Q,U and Z are dismissed to prevent ambiguity with 1,0,0,V and 2
so 123456789A BCDEFGHJKL MNPRSTVWXY means your D is either 1984 or 30yrs younger 2014

and finally a running serial number
(not all numbers need to be used, can include a manufacturing week for example)
which in your case is not entirely unlikely .. 10th week (makes it a march 2014)
but one would have to ask howhit for exact details there.

GY6 Engine ID

I thought all GY6 engines were basically the same and parts were interchangeable. But someone told me they have different variants. Is there an engine ID number? If so, Where can I find it? This is on a hammerhead GTS 150.

The picture from that link shows the engine code just below the belt cover. But my engine does not have a code below the belt cover or anywhere else that I can find it. The picture from that link is a scooter Engine but mine is on a go cart. Maybe there is a difference between a scooter engine and a go kart engine?

IIRC all Hammerheads were made by Howhit in Shanghai
post parts of your VIN if you want to know
(first five letters destinct make and model)
tenth the exact model year (there are difference between the model-years)

with that we can ID all engine parts

I was hoping to find an engine rebuild kit. I can look up all of the parts in the Hammerhead part list separately, but I think it will be much more expensive that way.

well you know you got a howhit engine and the exact model is stamped on the engine crankcase
(unless a PO has replaced the engine with a generic one)

there is no such thing as a rebuild kit, since there is no such thing as "the rebuild"
you may find a top end rebuild kit (piston, cylinder and gaskets)
but that won't help if your valves are bent..
you may find a valve rebuild kit (valves and springs )
but that won't help if your variator fell apart
you may find a variator rebuild kit (rollers washers and springs)
but that won't help if your crank journals are worn out

I think you get the idea, right?

list ALL individual parts on paper that need to be replaced.
find the Howhit engine model number

and start searching for spares,
if you find a kit that covers a few of the parts on your list.. great!
if not.. individual parts it is.

if you want a "no brainer" solution, bite the bullet and buy a new engine instead.
(make sure it's the same model though !)
