Hello everybody I have a 2008 hammerhead 250 ss and I have a question. When I put my foot to the floor it only goes 13 miles per hour top and I think it is suppose to go 40. We believe it might be the cluch that is causing the probobolem. But we recentally had someone ho works on small engines tell us that yo like stick a screwdriver and pry it apart to change the weights or something I'm not really shire. I was hoping that you guys might be able to give me a more detailed explanation on how to do it. Oh and by the way it dosent have the original cluch.

Hello and welcome...

Need to post pic of what motor, and the kart is...

What is the gear ratio(teeth count on front and rear sprockets) aswell as the OD of the rear tires(not what it says on the sidewall, the measured OD)

Mckutzy has a reasonable request, lacking those things and given the little information in your post I would say the driven side of your torque converter is frozen, I recommend googling how to care for said torque converter and taking care or the whole works, not just sticking in a screwdriver and hoping to break it loose. I also would speculate that 30 is closer to the top speed you should expect.

While asking the gear ratio by collecting the engine and axle tooth count is correct you are not done there. These also have an internal double reduction gear set. 9.9 times out of 10 on these karts this has nothing to do with your problem you are describing

As for the13mph. Check your rollers behind the variation to make sure they are operating correctly.
