Hi, I finally got my kids mini bike running, but the engine idles a little to fast. I can't find the idle screw and the little manual that came with the engine is worthless. Could someone point me to some information on adjusting the idle on my clone? Thanks!

It seems like a probelem on most peoples clone's. Even ajusting the idle screw wont do anything because the governer is pullling the carb open and not the idle screw. But you can locate the Idle screw right beside the butterfly where the linkage from the governer attches too. If you want a nice Idle I recoment removing the idle and running the cable right to the carb butterfly lever.

There's a large phillips plastic screw to adjust the idle on a stock clone. It's on the carb, facing toward the rear of the engine.

Thanks for the information, and I can see what I think is the screw, but it has a black plastic cap on it. Do I remove the cap from this screw? Thanks.

The idle screw is larger and has no cap.

Here's the manual for your engine.

There are two different manuals, but this is the better one. Go to page 21 for the carburetor page, and number 4 is the idle screw. I know it's a blown up view, but the picture should give you an idea what the screw looks like. IT'S A BIG SCREW.

You can normally see the screw near the throttle butterfly.

According to the HF manual it's 1700RPM idle, but you can adjust it lower than that. According to Honda it's supposed to be 1400RPM, hah go figure.

FYI, the square capped screw is the fuel mixture screw. (#25 in manual carb page) Turn it to the left to go richer, and right to go leaner. Don't mess with that screw if your engine runs fine. I make mine richer to help it start better, and need less choke.

Hope you and your kids have fun with the minibike!

I know I'm just telling you what it actually is. If you need more fuel on the top end it's not a air bleed issue. It's a main jet issue.

The idle screw normally does not have a cap on it. You can see the idle screw in this photo. The brass screw to the right on the front of the carb in the second photo is your air bleed and normally it is capped off for polution issues (Blame EPA)

Any stock Clone will have the adjustment screws capped, even the idle screw. I have my stock Clone carburetor at home, and I had to use pliers to turn the circular screw to adjust the idle.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I did find the idle screw, and it does have a cap on the screw. It looks like it might pop out somehow.
