GY6 muffler?

I have a new mini jeep with GY6 clone. I added a very small “diesel heater” muffler to reduce the obnoxious exhaust note. It’s done a great job with the noise. I added it downstream of the original muffler. Am I reducing the power significantly with this muffler? IMG_2298.jpeg

The Jeep is immaculate, you’re not making the mistake of modding the engine (exhaust) without really trying it in stock form are you? I think it is crucial and imperative to *start stock* and then measure by the keister (one’s derriere) to assist in all upgrades. That being said, I’d have to know what the inside of the new “muffler" looks like and see the baffles or restrictions ...but the short answer is yes, you’re robbing some performance out of the engine.

Going from the stock boxy muffler that an OHV engine typically has to a noisy straight pipe adds some very perceptible acceleration in my experience but almost zero to the top speed.

I have found that even the largest diameter of pipes can rob power. I had a 2.5" in/out muffler on a 420 and that slowed it down. Its not only restriction of flow by diameter but having too much turbulance will rob power pretty badly.

I would guess that it will rob a lot of power. Only one way to say for sure, though.

I haven’t finished break-in so I won’t know about max speed. It’s intended for my grandkids to learn how to shift and drive, so I’m not too concerned about some minor power loss.

Would love to hear the jeep sounds before and after the exhaust mod. 👍
It's really hard to get good comparisons with audio, the auto adjust on the microphone confounds comparisons. I bought a "1 inch exhaust pipe kit for Diesel Heater" on Amazon for $20. If you want your 125 to be quiet, it's worth the investment! The poop poop noise from each ignition is significantly muffled and makes the cart sound civilized. https://a.co/d/00rfDOGR
