How good are these motors? what kind of power do they make. my son is in a wheelchair. has cerebral palsey . I got him a regular gokart. but it wont do. I got a chance to get a custom kart full rollcage. 4 wheeler suspensions has 4 wheeler hand controls and handlebars. perfect for my kid. but it . has a blown 125yz motor on it right now and doest have reverse. i can get one these gy6 motors and trans setups. from a site i found used for 300 . off returned carts. any info on these be great.
haveing electric start and reverse would help him tons. havent been able to find any ex 300 honda three or four wheels on craiglist cheap enuf. pluss i think the ex300 be to much motor for him

these are great i had one myself on an old go kart its a blast never had any problems with and starts right up everytime

The gy6 engine is a great platform, power builds gradually through the rpm's, not full boogie out of the gate like a mower engine. Another plus is the aftermarket parts for performance, sound, gearing etc is very abundant. The variator rollers and springs can be changed for a higher rpm take off when you need low end grunt up hills etc in the yard, you can get a better rectifier and high energy coil for upgraded ignition, the possibilities are endless.
