hello everyone,
i have a brand new gx 270, i had run threw a whole tank of gas and ran out, i have refiled it and nothing, the gas is good,

i have
-checked plug - was kind of fouled, cleaned well with file, tested grounded on frame, was a spark,

-cleaned carb - no dirt, perfect

- checked compression - perfect

- checked valves and timing - good

- engine started after 10 seconds on electric start, was very weak and died.

when it has ran out of gas i had rocked it on its side to try and get the gas to move. than after refilling didn't work. also the day it ran out of gas i was stupid and left the choke on. Everything looks good in it. only thing is oil cut? but it is full, could it be because i tilted the engine. is there a way to disable it to test.

thanks - RW:thumbsup:

if the problem is your spark plug you can put a small spoonful of gas in the spark plug hole, replace and pull the cord with the choke off and throttle wide open. After the first or a couple pulls, it should start and run for a few seconds. If it doesnt start, you have a spark-plug/ground/coil gap whatever related problem

If the engine starts and runs, then dies its a fuel problem. (Its almost always a fuel/fuel delivery problem btw).

the reason why I dont think it is your spark plug is because you already tested it and its a brand new engine.

Its gotta be something dumb/easy like you ran the fuel out of it, and the jet is blocked, or you turned the gas lever to "off" so the bowl doesnt fill with gas, or you have bad gas, or you accidentally switched the kill switch to "off" - happens to a lot of us.

I would have to agree, probably a blocked passage or jet some where. Use one strand of a soft copper wire and check all passages or better yet if you have a air compressor blow them out.

I would also say When you ran out of gas some crap out of the bottom of the tank got into the carb, and you need to clean the carb not chase after spark issues,
Try Kart fabs method sounds like it will pin point... gas or spark.
