I am installing a new crankshaft in a gx240. I have noticed two problems with the aftermarket replacement Q-type crankshafts for this engine.
1) The gearing for the balancer is much thinner, and not angled like on the original (see attached). This causes the balancer gear to not perfectly engage with the crankshaft gear.
2) There is no timing dot on the crankshafts balancer gear. There is one for the camshaft gear however. This is not a huge issue as I can figure out where the dot should be by looking on the original shaft, but the lack of the timing gear on the crankshaft balancer gear leads me to believe its probably not supposed to be used with the balancer.
Should I return this crankshaft and find one with the thicker, angled gearing for the balancer? Should I just remove the balancer? I feel like its there for a reason.
Thanks
