100_0424.jpgHello all and thanks in advance for all your support in my first kart build. Im building a kart from a 39 Ford fiberglass body which makes this build a little more difficult. I installed a gx200 Honda and ran great before I started doing some modifacation. (#1) Because the engion is inclosed under the body I installed an electric start. (#2) I had to remove the air breather to hook-up my throttle cable. Replaced with an aftermarket breather. (#3) I come up with the bright idea of streight pipe exhaust out the back of the car. NOW the engine is flooding out bad. Im sure I screwed somthing up here but how can I fix it. Thanks again.

None of your mods should have resulted in that condition. Describe exactly what it is doing, and when.

One possibility is that (by fluke) you got a chunk of snark jammed in your float valve.

The engine is not very old. Its a Honda clone (H/F). I took the carb off yesterday, checked the float and needle, and found it to be very clean. Not sure if there is a float adjustment? The engine will start & run with the chock on. After letting the engine warm-up I try to take the chock off ond it dies. The spark plug is black with carbon which indicates to me it is flooding out. Probably because running with the chock closed. If I try to throttle up and open the chock it runs very bad untill it dies. It has been a few months since it was running good so I thought maybe bad gas. Drained the gas and replaced with new, no change. Not sure if it matters, but the engine will still run with the gas valve closed on the carberator??? Thanks for the help. These small engines are not my strong point.

I think your carb needs cleaning. The fact that it runs better with the choke closed indicates a lean condition. The black, manky plug is because it's too rich with it fully choked. The engine will continue to run with the valve off until the carb bowl runs dry (can take up to a couple of minutes at idle). If it keeps going, your valve is bad.

I feel like everyone's missing something. He said he put a straight pipe and high flow air filter on this engine, to me that calls for a plug chop and possible jet change

I would suggest a jet change and more stout valve springs. I have had this problem before under very similar circumstances and one of the culprits was valve float at high rpms. This would be remedied by putting in something like 25 lb springs. Worth a try at least.
