I know that after a certain amount of RPM's you need to get a billet flywheel. I also know that you also need a connecting rod. I usually see people commenting to get a billet flywheel if one is to heavily modify an engine. I don't usually see recommendations for connecting rods. So I am wondering at what RPM range should one go about getting a billet connecting rod. I plan to do modifications but want to know all the safety precautions beforehand.

Anything when you start to get into modifying anything in the block and head of the engine, you get a new flywheel and connecting rod. 5500 RPM is basically the top line for the rod, 6500 for the flywheel, although this number isn't too precise. Also note that the Honda springs are not Predator springs and may let the engine rev higher than it should and cause a problem. If you do anything to your GX160, which isn't a well documented engine for modifying, get a new ARC racing rod and flywheel if available and swap it ASAP. Don't end up like that GX390 that recently exploded.

GX160, which isn't a well documented engine for modifying,

Maybe not here, but it was popular (and well-documented) among kart racers. Early Predators and lots of non-Predator clones are/were functionally exact copies of the Hondas. and they still share a lot of the design.
