I have an Gx-390 Honda 13hp engine from a power washer with low hours on it.I am having a hard time finding a off road go cart frame in RI.I think it may be easier to find a $ wheeler with no engine at a junk yard or something. My question is will this engine be powerful enough to run it.I am 5"10" and 200lb.Also what cc muter size would a 13 hp be compared to?

More than enough power.
Take that engine and a 40 series torque converter setup, and the right gearing, it will be a force to be reckoned with.

WAIT! Before you go about buying anything, make sure that the motor has a straight shaft about 2.5"+ long. It may be too short and/or tapered, thus not practical on a kart as it sits.

Its against the law in RI to ride anywhere but privet land. There is a big park behind my house now that is closed allot of grass and a big parking lot and road.Your welcome to ride here.My path to the park is rathor narrow so u might have to go to the end of the street and down the beach or we can find another way.

I took that cart i bought off you all apart and painted it real nice.I haven't put it back together cause when i tried to bring my laptop out to look at the before picts i took i busted the screen.I will try to put it back together soon.I will probably sell it for hopefully a good profit and put it towards a buggy style cart for my HP motor.

If you want me to call u so u can have my # i think i still
got yours.

I measured it and it is 1" in diam. with a keyway no taper. 3'' long to the point it gets a little thicker and then another inch.

It's unlike building a kart, just a higher center of gravity.

  • Rolling chassis
  • Engine
  • Torque Converter (with belt)
  • Jack shaft
  • Sprockets and chains
  • Throttle and brakes

If you really want to keep up with a quad, try a CVTech TC. They have a lower low and higher high than Comet 40s, IIRC.
