well i can tell u right now most of the electrics on that engine are Chinese

u would be lucky to get 2 grand for it
don't forget it will be need underivable
just smoking tryes continuously

your best bet would be to remove the engine from the frame and sell it seperate
in aus it would be worth 2 grand (the engine ) but i dont know about over there

i know it sounds like we are trying to bag u out and stop u building but we see it quite a bit
someone trys to stick a huge engine on a tiny kart then they disappear from the forum
they either run into some technical challenge
drive it once and it scares them
or some other outcome we dont want to think of
anyhow half the time someone see the projet come up for sale locally
in the end the price is dropped and dropped till it goes for dirt cheap either finished and covered in dust or in peices

if u wish to carry on with this then dont modifly the engine or any of its parts as that is the best chance of resale
oh and wear mtorcross style safty gear

that front end and the side of the seat look like my manco. they look like a rupp but the flat brace that goes vertically is much wider on a rupp. if that is a manco(or sears or whatever) it doesn't matter how beefy the rear is, my front end is bent and the whole frame is knocked out of square and the bumper is snapped off. it was running a 3 horse tecumsa and might have been doing thirty top end when crashed(i bought it this way)! not trying to piss on your parade but those frames are crappy mild steel, hit a big bump on your way to warp speed and a front wheel/axle assembly will probably fold up, fly past your head and god only knows whats next. at least build a full cage around it and belt in. good score on the motor though!

Yeah your prolly right, but where did you see a pic of the front end? I just looked again and couldnt find it...

I've asked the OP (TWICE !!!) to post another pic of this karts front-end... Because If It is just a Manco, (or some other funkart brand) it'll prolly get all twitchy-handling at most any speeds over 30mph, but if this kart started out as a high-quality/vintage racekart, It might just have the possibility of handling fine at speeds up to 100mph...

QJ8F- We've been asking for some pics to help you determine if you're into a feasible project, or a total rolling crematorium. You keep telling is that it's strong, heavy, or "nearly solid steel".Don't take offence, you're new at this- so, you're probably the last person that can make a determination as to the feasibilty of this project. We're not trying to pee out your campfire, it's just that death sucks. While that may sound funny, I assure you that it isn't.

The structural integrity of the frame is indeed important. Not just the material thickness, but the diameter, the design, the geometry, the welds- he//, even the type of steel used. And that's just the frame! Now, you have to consider-

Hardware- Crappy ungraded hardware store stuff? Or worse, Chinese hardware?Do you really want a critical fastener failing at 60 (or more) MPH with all that weight and inertia behind you?

Brakes- I can't believe I still have to explain this to people. Your vehicle MUST be able to stop at least as well as it can go. If not, you're dead. Simple. Kart like that? Settle for nothing less than 4-wheel hydraulic discs. And not cheapo pitbike crap either. Your life depends on it.

Steering- Not just "does it turn when I turn the wheel?". Steering is a system, not just some components. It is geometry, hardware, and components. Again, no room for compromise here. Either it's engineered properly, or tell Darwin I said "Hello".

Bearings- Did anybody think of that? Can you just imagine $2 LOW SPEED bearings at 60MPH? Disintegration, followed by catastrophic face failure.

Control linkages/cables. Key word here- "control".

If I can summarize all of this in a tidy little package for you: Think about what you're doing, and be honest with yourself. Are you competent enough to properly evaluate and tackle this project? Is this chassis REALLY up to snuff? Think about it. These may well not be the words you want to hear, but then again, too bad. I'm not going to encourage you to try out for a Darwin award. Sorry.

So take the fellas' advice here. Either make dang good and sure you've got a legit, quality race chassis and skills, OR toss that engine in a good buggy, OR sell that engine and put something more appropriate in your kart. Just my 45,238,852 cents...

i dont know of any race kart that used a plastic steering wheel with a through the shaft bolt to secure it(same as my manco). hell that wheel could break off in your hand over 35-40 mph. get a race kart and transfer all your good stuff at least.

now back to my Honda gvx140 powered, gm alternator emergency sump pump generator.

What a pal....if you build it. SELL IT! But not to one of your friends. I assure you, you do not want to have to live with that. Hopefully you'll complete it, realize it was a terrible idea, and someone will get that engine put in a real buggy. Your wasting a nice engine. Without suspension you'll never put that power to the ground. If it did by some fluke actually hook up it'll make that frame look like a pretzel.

"One of my friends lives in Plano ill and there's 3mile long roads its pretty hilly there to should be fun"

You what??? I drove through Plano IL no more than 20 minutes ago. Plano is turning into a suburb of chicago. Lots of people and traffic. There is no place to ride in Plano. Unless you like wearing bracelets that connect. You won't ride anything that isn't street legal around here on the street. First they'll go over your contraption with a fined tooth comb and write you every ticket they can. No registration, no insurance, operating an unsafe vehicle on the roadway, non DOT approved tires, if you leave marks with those tires? Add criminal damage to state supported property, reckless driving. If they'res people around reckless endangerment. Etc. Etc. Yep, bad idea. I live in a rural town about 30min from plano. Also there are no hills around here guy. It's flat as a pancake. Illinois prairie. Corn and soybean fields. Biggest hill near Plano is the one my avatar is jumping. That's about 20 min outside of Plano. :stir:

i was gonna use my manco for my duraforce project, but its bent and tweaked out of square and i'm not sure its crappy steel is up to that! winter setting in i'm building a new frame with basically just the rear axle remaining. using the front axle from my old quarter midget. strongly suggest better front end equipment for that monster.
