This is my Dual Honda 6.5hp Ground Hawg built by BKS. Fun little kart.

I obtained this kart years ago and its been sitting until just recently. I dug it out of storage and so far I've already replaced both clutches, chains, carburetors and the throttle cables. Got both motors back to tip top shape and mounted them back onto the kart. Cleaned up the wheels and bearings then greased all the fittings. Went out and ripped some doughnuts in the street and drifted it a bit!!! FUUUNNN!!

My future plans are to replace all four tires, putting super moto tires in the rear. Replace the throttle cable with correct type. (I'm just using steel cable right now). Maybe remove the governors in the motors. Strip it down, give it a repaint. Reupholster the seat and reassemble.

Possibly may have additional ridiculous modifications in the future up my sleeves:devil2:

build those engines and before you pull the governor get an aluminum flywheel and probably smart to get a conrod too. this thing is pretty sick though i love dual engines how well do they run together though?

In some parts of society, the kart, as well as the pickup next to it are considered signs of mental instability.

:welcome2: TO OUR WORLD!!!!! (I have a strong feeling that you are going to like it here........):cheers2::wai::popcorn:

I woke up this morning and decided that I was going to wheel the kart out of the garage and get a walk around video, start up video, and also a video of a quick ride.

After getting it outside and tightening up the chain on one of the motors (the right hand motor), I started the kart up and pull it around my yard. In that small distance the bolt that goes into the clutch on the left hand motor had been lost along with the washer. In that process there was significant amount of slack that happened on that chain.

Determined to get a video up for your guys, I searched for a replacement bolt and washer. tightened the chain back up. Only after getting the slack out, i find out that rolling the kart forwards and backwards, the chain starts to jump off the teeth.

So no ride along video today :(

However I took a couple others.

I have to take everything apart and remount the motors making sure they are square. Then put the axle back and adjust the sprockets if needed.

Additional to all that, I think my axle is bent. There is significant amount of wheel hop when riding the kart and almost does a whining noise when rolling around. waaaw waaaw wwaaaaw waaaww wwaaaw waaaw

Holy $*%# ive finally found another Minitrucker on here haha. Once I spotted the Mitsu in the side of that picture I just about fell out. Truck looks sick by the way....im working on a x-cab yota right now. Ive got some friends down here that are also in Freaks...good people.

The kart is looking good as well....you'll like those back tires.

Where are you located at Dingo? Ive done a right hand side drive conversion on the mistu. :D Anything with a motor = Toy

as for the gearing on the motors on the hondas, they are geared the same. And from what ive looked up, when having dual ohv motors running on a solid axel, they will not interfear with each other and instead of doubleing the HP of my kart, having the second motor doubles the tourque of the kart. Now i dont know if any of that is true or not, there was some reasoning about how the rpm is not changing so the top speed of the Kart is not effected by adding the additional motor. Getting to the top speed is a different story. If I had front brakes I know it would smoke the tires.

You're absolutely correct, except for one point:
-Having two engines doesn't increase top speed: Correct. It doesn't matter if you have 5hp or 500hp with a max 3600rpm, top speed remains the same due to gearing, it's the length of time it takes to get there that changes

-Having two engines doesn't increase hp but it doubles the torque: Incorrect. As hp = rpm x torque, if you double the torque, you double the hp :)

You are doubling the torque and hp that is put to the wheels. Not sure where your logic is. There is no way you can say that a kart with 2 clones will accelerate at the same speed as a kart that has one if they are geared the same.

As far as I know, Fabroman is correct. You can have a huge engine and a small one, and they will give you the same result with the same gearing

They will give you the same top speed, yes. But getting there is another story. By running a larger engine you are directly increasing the torque while keeping the rpm the same so the top end will be the same but the acceleration will increase by a significant amount. A indirect result of increasing the torque is that you are also increasing the hp as well.

A larger engine (Or in this case a extra engine) will not result in a faster kart. It will result in a quicker kart. As long as the gearing is the same

Ehh, wait a second. I think I read fabromans post wrong, o well I'll post this anyways and wait till he responds to see if i read it wrong.

Im located in Auburn Alabama and I agree that everything and anything with a motor is a toy.

So if the pictures weren't BA enough....the Mitsu is a right hand drive too? Man you Freaks really know how to get down lol.

I think you did coz that's exactly what I said :lolgoku:

OP stated that

instead of doubleing the HP of my kart, having the second motor doubles the tourque of the kart.

-Seacrest

I was merely pointing out that, by doubling the torque, effectively, he is doubling the hp.

More to the point, by having two engines on the same axle, technically, it does have twice the hp

I've edited my previous post to clarify things a bit :D
