Mig as in solid wire with shielding gas or mig as in flux cored wire. Because it looks like you're using solid wire (true mig) with no gas. Did you chip the slag off (flux cored)? Maybe, did you weld over the slag in many layers (flux cored)?

but there is no slag to chip off when im finished welding

Well they should be. You can only do one pass, then you have to remove the flux/slag. Then make another pass. If you weld on slag, the weld will have terrible penetration and be weak as hell.

Same for arc welding.

Just make sure you get rid of as much as you can, and make sure that your bead is not to thick. I aim to make the bead about 10-15mm wide. It looked like yours was more like 25mm. But that could just be the picture.

no man thats mig

Not to get overly technical but to avoid confusing noobs-

No, it's not MIG, its FCAW, or Flux-Cored Arc Welding. Wirefeed with a flux core wire, reverse polarity. MIG stands for Metal, Inert Gas. For this you need a solid core wire, and a cylinder of gas, usually a Co2/Argon blend.

Over here (and it might be the same where you live) we learn by the school to call it MAG welding instead of MIG, same as you discribed using a gas. Not 100% but i think MIG is the old way a saying it (correct me as I might to be wrong).

I have lost marks in exams for saying MIG instead of MAG.

Metal Active Gas to the best of my memory.

I like the square sprint dirt track looking top of your cage. It may be a smidging to tall though. Nice job.

For doing this at home, its pretty well done. I am interested to see what the rear half will look like being as it seems you need more triangulation centered around the rollcage/cockpit area. Shame the majority couldnt have been done in round tubing, but i would imagine this is a budget build and youre doing with what you have. have you thought about getting a steering rack and making it double a-arm long travel in the front? would handle much nicer, though a little more work. Or independent chain driven rear suspension? And youre beginning weld was looking rather horrid, but the last close up looked much improved! keep this updated im interested in seeing where it goes.

i using the single a arm because its all from my quad in the future i might modify it not sure yet
ya the welds have improved a bit i bought some better quality flux cored wire and its alot better to weld wit so it makes a difference
