I've been lurking around the forum for a few months reading posts, but I figured I'd make an account and say thanks for all the help I have received.
My name is Micah and I'm a kart-a-holic. It started three months ago when my wife, two children and I moved out of a subdivision to a 10.5 acre spot. With the move I promised my kids I would get them a kart and as of yesterday I now own three.
My kids are still pretty young (8 and almost 5) so when I saw this Kasea mini buggy at a garage sale I bit. The seller was asking $350 and I paid $300 and I feel we both did OK on the deal.
Other than needing a battery charge it has been great. Electric start works, runs clean and easy, horn works annoyingly well. The lights do not work, but that should be an easy fix. Of course it caused strife between the kids so I naturally had to buy another...
The second I picked up is from the defunct "KidKarts.com" and came with a 3hp Tecumseh Power Sport. I bought it from a kid on craigslist (literally an 11 year old) who was trying to fund an electric drift build. Trying to talk his dad down on the price felt a little wrong since I'd be taking money out of the kid's pocket and I'm a sucker so I paid $300 for it.
The Tecumseh is not misrepresented here and has been a pain in the neck. I put a new carb on it, changed the oil and bypassed the governor linkage and it runs OK for now. I'm on the fence about keeping it. If it stays long term it will get a Predator upgrade.
Lastly, I picked up this non-running Carter 2336 - ZXH for just over $100 last night.
It has been sitting outside in the weather for 4-5 years and is need of some TLC. It was buried under leaves at the bottom of a hill and is also in need of a Tecsumseh-ectomy. Despite all that I'm really excited about it and am hopeful it will keep me busy enough to to buy a 4th cart before the end of the year.
