Recently found your site and in the process of redoing a Bombardier NEV from electric to gas for my granddaughter. So I guess it can now be called a go kart, it's for sure a DIY.

Those things are awesome! Don't destroy too much of it during the conversion if you can help it. I believe those were street legal, right? Like VIN and registration and all. If you could get it up to 45mph. That would be great for a small town get around. Posting pictures here is not that hard. I'd like to see some.

How did you come across getting it?

So sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the welcome. My wife does the books at a dealer auto auction business and I pick up her paperwork to bring home to her. About 7 years ago this cart shows up and I nicknamed it the egg and picked on her to get it for me. She didn't and fast forward to February this year, when she asked me to get the books for her, and she said they needed to borrow my trailer. So I show up and the egg is rolled out of the weeds and at the gate. I get the books and ask where they wanted the trailer and we all go out and the egg is loaded on my trailer. But the egg being in weeds for 7 years takes its toll on electronics so the conversion begins. All batteries and covers were missing. As of now I have gutted the motor to reuse the housing bearings and shaft, ordered a 7 hp gas engine, torque converter, jackshaft and reverse gearbox. Will reuse the original rear axle. I will try to load photos this evening.

Cool story. I figured it had something interesting to it because of the rareness of those. Most who bought them already had money, so they are usually kept indoors and owned by older people that sometimes get dealt out in estate sales or handed down to family who does not have any interest in a glorified golf cart. I hope to find one in just that state of disrepair.

I would so rock that thing to the grocery store with the bumper sticker "I can't afford the gas for my 1000HP muscle car." haha.

And if my wife was in that business, I'd have a used car lot in my back yard. Can one be a dealer and never sell a car? wonder if the IRS would catch on? ;)

If you are going to post progress pictures about it you can start another thread in that sub forum for project builds. It does help to have that one thread to go back to. Sort of like have your build notes online for ever.
