I thought I might as well start up a thread. Now that i'm getting down to the business end of things.

A bit of history. Ages ago I brought a Sidewinder without an engine. I had all intentions keeping it as a Sidewinder. I was on the look out for an engine and came across the 750. It came with another poorly made buggy, if you could call it that! I recently got rid of that for a couple of dozen.

As time has gone on, I realised I want/need a Piranha for the places I will ride, one day!

So after sitting in the shed for almost 2 years, I am determined to finish it for next summer, November to about March.

This is the engine as it sits now. It came with no carbs, exhaust or electrics. I bought all these separately and got it running. The electrics were the hardest part, you can see the nice homemade loom. :roflol: That was with no exhaust or radiator. Also the carbs need the floats set as gas was poring out everywhere. Today I mounted the radiator and ran the hoses, a couple of O-rings need replacing before I can give it a good run.

The frame, picture is probably a couple of months now. I lengthened it so I could fit in it. Need to buy some tube, RHS and 6mm plate.

Got the CV's that I am going to manipulate to suit. They are out of a Mini. Not to sure how they will hold up, time will tell I suppose.

This is a fraction of the story, but my hands are starting to fade. So i'll leave it there.

Thoughts and opinions?

loving the exhaust
any reason u dont use uni's
or the proper CVs

Yea, I like the exhaust too. Should sound like a demon!

The mini CV's were the right price. Buying UJ's are expensive, I looked at them but was going to be about $600 for everything I needed. We have some here, but need them for the tractors. :roflol: Added that they don't have constant velocity.

Trying to find porsche CV's here is like trying to find gold. I am yet to see a set on trademe. We have a lathe and mill, adapting these to a custom rear end wont be a problem.

Cheers mate.
Yea i'm from Auckland. How about yourself?

Made some progress, replaced some O-rings, put some water in it and fired it up. Ran great at full rev and would idle, just. I need to set the float height on the carbs as petol is just pouring out.

Man this thing sounds insane with those exhaust pipes. Flames about 100mm out end. :wai: I'll try get a video, not to sure how the camera will fear with the noise!
