Governor removal gone wrong

Hey all,
I’m new to the site and new to mini bikes as well.
I picked up two brand new Coleman BT200x’s a few weeks ago and decided to upgrade the valve springs and remove the governor in one of them and leave the other stock for the kids. I performed the work yesterday and after I finished it cranked right up and I rode it one lap around the yard. I noticed the exhaust had loosened up a bit while riding and i tightened it back Up right after riding. However, the bike will now not crank for anything. I’ve replaced the spark plug, I’ve checked the kill switch (by ungrounding it and trying to crank), I’ve pulled the carb to make sure it was clean, and I’ve recheck my valve lash. Any help as to what I may have missed would be greatly appreciated!

The governer holds the throttle open to aid starting, and once the motor picks up, closes it to idle.

So without the governer, you may need to crack the throttle open as you pull it, to get things going.

When I see the words "wont crank" I'm led to believe the engine is seized? Or is it not firing?

Poor choice of wording on my behalf, it’s not firing, I will try to give it some throttle when I get home and see where that gets me.

Chances are a fuel issue or no spark, slight possibility it sheared the timing key.

Pick the low hanging fruit first, he was trying to start it with the throttle butterfly all the way closed, that will make it difficult to start. Regardless of any other issue.

Alright got home today, tried cracking the throttle to no avail. Pulled spark plug and wire and there is spark. It seems like it is Not getting any fuel but I could be wrong about that.

it’s got to be a throttle related issue unless you did something wrong while you were in the crankcase.

Splash a dash of fuel in the cylinder to confirm it WILL run. If she fires it's time to tear the carb apart again and clean er out, dont forget about the idle/pilot jet and circuit. Have you pulled the plug immediately after trying to start it to see if its wet? If it is try lighting it with a lighter quick and confirm the fuel isnt the issue

I Have hade similar issue ,checked my plug which also had spark. Even though I had spark I put in new spark plug puled cord started right up. This has happened more then once for me. I don't know why but maybe the pugs just had a weak spark.

same thing happened to me with a chainsaw last night had good blue spark but the engine would not run. I put a new spark plug in it and it started on the first pull

Lets see some pics of your throttle setup...
Did you completely remove the gov or just the linkage outside the motor??...

While you were in the block???- did you replace the stock con-rod when you were going to change the valve springs??...Stock springs act as a gov to not let the con-rod go, they float about 5.5K...

Sorry guys, I’ve been offshore for a few days, as soon as I get back to the bike I’ll post some pictures of the throttle. I’m leaning towards it being a throttle problem. I did a full governor removal. I took the throttle arm and bent it up Into shape and ran it through The plate that the throttle cable connects to. (Not sure of technical names. Then I put a return spring on the throttle and hooked it to a bolt in the return case so it springs The throttle closed.
