I was taking my kart around the parking lot and the engine was screaming, and did not sound like the govenor was working, so i let off the gas heard a pop and the kart stopped accelerating. The engine was still idling but i had no response out of the accel. pedal.
so i checked it out, and the spring going into the gov. arm (not sure what the thing with the numbers on it is), fell out, so i put the spring in the number 1 slot and its just not running like it was when i first took it out. here is the pic of the linkage how it think its supposed to be assembled. does everything look ok? pls ignore the shadows in the pic i took a panoramic pic and didn't line it up quite perfect

The thing with the numbers lets you control spring tension, which in return controls the engine rpm's I would try putting the spring in all 5 of the holes because you dont know which one it fell out of. Each time you try a different hole take the kart out for a spin and see which hole gives you the best performance. Be careful to as you could do damage to ur engine if allow it to rev to high. If you have equipment to measure rpm's, then select the hole that limits the engine to 3600 rpm. 3600 rpm tends to be the normal operating range for small engines.

so i was playing with the spring setting and number 1 definatly revs the highest, 5 barly does anything. the part i was more concerned w/ was on the right side, the spring loop that is horizontal doesn't really contact anything even with the pedal all the way down.

Where ever it used to be connected to (if it was) should have left some telltale marks both on the inside of loop itself and also on whatever it was connected to. Try using a magnifying glass to see any evedence that might help you out here.

From the angle of your pic I cant tell for sure, but it kinda looks like that unattached spring loop is either supposed to hook to the brackets upper indent or possibly into the the loop of the other rod that is hooked to the bracket.

I tried to look up your engine but I cant find any info on a oh55. What brand is it?

If all else fails, this might be a good time to bypass your governor system and connect your throttle cable directly to the carb.
