that thing moves good once it gets up on the pipe! it should be terrifying:)wai:) with some higher ratio sprockets! you could run some smaller diameter front tires on the rear to raise the final drive ratio, if you have a half inch extra clearance. i don't have experience with direct drive karts, but did race 1/4 midgets. to start them, we would pick the back of the car up and run with it and drop the tires, it would usually fire right up. it had a 3 horse briggs with a 5 to one ratio reduction box and #40 chain so i don't really know if that type of shock on a (#35?)chain drive would be bad. if you have a low frame stand for the back end, put it up in the stand and get the back tires in the air . put a hand over the carb opening and turn the tire a couple times to prime the carb first(cold).

Thanks for the replies so far. I got in contact the official Mach1 and Ital Sistem dealer in Belgium.

Before I said it was a 2 hour drive, but actually it's only a 30 minutes drive! So yeah, I'm going there to get some spare parts and repair parts for a engine rebuilt. I hope it won't cost that much.

@twd4evr, I already got the kart running multiple times. Starting isn't too hard when you're on the ground and get pushed by your friends. Starting the kart on a stand is a different story though. It's really hard to just give a push at the tires to get the engine going. The compression ratio is too high.

Oh btw, the guy from the shop said that replacing the piston every 10 hours is MAXIMUM you should go. Preferebly around 8 or 9 hours.
I wonder if this is just for selling me more pistons, or is it really necessary?

Bump. What do you think about replacing the piston now, drive it a one last time and then sell it after winter. I'll be able to sell it as "Engine just got a new piston, so just get and race!" I can ask more, as the engine got a rebuild!

If I sell now, advanced people will know about the piston and will ask me about it... This could decrease the selling price.

Anyhow, to not make this a boring topic, here is a video of my friend driving with slicks on while it just started to rain... not a good idea.

Here's a cool video of the kart at its top speed. :D

I'm still not sure what I'm planning to do with the engine. I read everywhere I need to replace the piston before the engine blows up. I don't mind spending €50 on a new piston and an engine rebuild kit if we can get a little more fun of it, but the problem is, where does this stop? Next thing will be new brake pads, maybe new master cylinder or new tires... I don't want to spend an endless amount of money in this kart.

I was considering getting a motocycle engine and turn this into a shifter kart, altough, this engine is soooo much fun I don't want to get rid of it. :D

It's better to make a new topic, wely. This way people will answer to you much faster, and it helps to keep the forum organised! ;)
