most of the tools i buy are mastercraft. most of the stuff like wrenches, sockets, ratchets an screw drivers are suppose to have a lifetime warranty but i have not broke one yet. most of the electric power tools have a about a 3 year warranty on them which seem good to me. the only person that i know of that ever had to use that warranty on a grinder was the metal shop teacher. having 3 different classes a day abusing the tools can kill them quick. i usually buy my tools when they are on sale and always keep receipt. i think the next big investment i need to make will be on a tool box to fit all the tool i have already acquired. my tool box is full and my work area has lots of tools that are still brand new.
Max torque/ ultimate strength you're right; where you see a lot of them ( without the max/yield strength app.) is large precision machine tools. How they are used is beyond the scope of this discusion. All of my stuff over 2" is from NAPA Auto and True Value hdwr.. Banged up, but still ready.
