Hey all, I am putting together a off road kart for my son (and me). I just bought a 420cc lifan engine and a 40 series converter. I am running 22inch tall rear tires and The weight will be 400lbs cart and 200lbs me. What would be a good starting point for sprockets? Jackshaft and live axle. Right now it has a 60 tooth axle sprocket and a 9 tooth jackshaft sprocket for the old setup with the 6.5 engine. Thanks.

With the TC you can afford to gear a little higher. I'm not an expert so wait for someone wlse to chime in.

That equates to 6.66:1. Good start- go with it, then regear if necessary.

You're right. 
Rather keep your existing setup to start with and save some money. I am sure you will be fine with this setup- Status
