Sorry for the necropost but how do the turf slicks hold up? The cart will be almost exclusively on asphalt.I run slicks on my kart and they last forever I think this one is your size https://www.gopowersports.com/13x500-6-slick-tire/
I think.
The ply rating is about the sidewall, although I have seen some dual rating tires (sidewall and carcass under the tread). On those SunF tires, I think the most important part (for wearability) is the "6 Ply Rated" part. The more ply, the more rubber.
Thanks. I need a 4" wide (3.5" really) on a 5 inch rim. The selection seems pretty slim. My son has already burned through a turf tire. (Yes, there were burnouts and donuts involved.) We have a new turf tire ready to install but I was just wondering about a slick. Here's one that has extensive tread but isn't quite as extreme as slicks.

Now that you say that, I believe your correct. The ply rating is about the sidewall, although I have seen some dual rating tires (sidewall and carcass under the tread).
Tread wear is all about the tread design and rubber hardness.
Hard rubber = high mile life but less grip
Soft rubber = low mile life but more grip
I had an old Honda Goldwing that would burn up the rear tire in no time.
It would wear the center strip down with the edges hardly touched.
I went to the dual tread compound tires that had soft tread on the outer edges and harder tread in the center strip.
I got significantly longer life, maybe 50%.
