Was a beutiful day, so i got the engine and everything else i need out of the sled, also cleaned up the rear end, wire brushed it, and painted the oil pan. Filled it with some gear oil, but i didnt have enough. Started to machine my adapter for the secondary, should be done with that in a few days.

Neat little cruiser ....... Me, I wouldn't lift it, I'd SLAM it!

Always thought about getting one of those and dropping a small-block Chevy into it, though .... big ol' zoomies off the sides ...

Finished machining the adapter, basically took the flange from the driven that bolted to the diff, and machined a 15/16" hole in the center, then i turned down a sled jackshaft to 1", keyed it, turned down one end to about 15/16 then knurled it, and pressed it all together and welded. Anyways, it spins true with .002" I got the whole swing arm back together, and i'm getting the the engine mounts made up. I just bought some shrink wrap tubing for the wiring, and i should have everything else i need.

There will be a support bearing on the right side of that shaft.

Should turn out awesome. I'm seconding SpyGuy's vote to slam it; Definitely not something you would see every day, would have the potential to be pretty **** cool.

At this point im going to get it all back together with the sled engine, and about stock ride height, and make sure the rear end will hold up and all, i may end up going with a straight axle, i would probably save a good 40 or 50lbs if i did.

Hoping to get the engine mounted tomorrow.

:censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:

I got the engine in place, and closed the hood/head end to make sure everything fit...and guess what? not even close. There is absolutely no way i can fit this thing in there as is, i think ill have to go with a straight axle in the rear and a jackshaft...

yea, it wouldnt be hard, but getting the right gear reduction would, i need at least 6:1, 7:1 would be better, and the biggest 50p sprocket i can find is 42t.

Would #40 chain hold up?

If you look around, maybe you could find an axle out of a different golf cart. My friend has a few old gas carts sitting around, and they have the driven mounted parallel to the wheels, like you would have on a kart with a TAV.

I don't think #40 would work because Im guessing the hp is pretty high and it would end up snapping. Do you have any other chain options?
