Some pics of the new rearend setup!





So the hubs i got from northerntool fit the golf cart wheels so im happy about that. I just have to figure out the drum brake system how it works and how to mount it up.I was going to use a disc brake but they didnt have one in stock and i dont like to wait for parts so decided to go with a drum brake,probly going to add another to the other axle.

if i can go 25mph and accelerate at a decent speed with 2 adults in the cart i would be EXTREMELY happy.

I know the motor is small 6.5hp but i did loose a LOT of weight in the conversion process so i think it will work out fine. If not i will just go with a bigger motor.
But i hope it will work. If it does im going to pait the body add custom lighting, a hitch,
and a bada$$ stereo system. was going to do a airbag suspension but maybe next time!
I will just lift this one up a few inches with bigger nobby tires if it all works out!

Yea it has a 2 year warranty so i dont want to modify it. if it blows i will get a new one for free and put it on a mini bike, then just get the bigger 13 hp motor for the cart. or get a briggs and modify the hell out of it.

The speed calculator says it will go 58 with a 40 tooth sproket and a 12 tooth clutch with 18inch tall tires! but i know it will take a long time to get to that speed,LOL
I may have to just go with the 60 tooth sproket and change the clutch to the #40 chain and get a new chain,but i will just see what happens.

Here is what i did tonight mounted and welded the rearend need to make mounts for the engine.


Also made the sproket i had fit by drilling out the holes so i have a 40 tooth on the rear.

That is correct- there are two sprockets bolted to the differential- one for propulsion, the other serves as the brake rotor.

It might be worth noting that on the lawn tractor the axle came from, there was only one sprocket which did double duty. the mechanical caliper it had fit over #41 chain, but not #40. I was going to clearance it with a die grinder, but ended up changing to hydraulic motorcycle brakes.

Comment on your diff mounting

In your first post you have a picture of your new diff mounted. I doubt the diff bearings will be able to withstand the bending force applied to it the way you have it mounted. I have a kart with a Comet diff on the rear axle. I put two axle bearings on each stub axle to prevent the bending load from being applied to the diff bearings. You can see the way I did it in the pics in my post in the introduction section. We ran the kart for years that way and never had any bearing problems with the diff. The real trick was getting all four axle bearings aligned. I mounted the outer two and then put one long shaft thru all the bearings and then welded the brackets for the inner two while they were supported on the long shaft. If you want to see the load that will be applied to the diff, just remove it leave the axles and wheels hang and sit in the kart.

I posted 2 videos on YouTube my name is infidel325 on there. One of the videos shows the complete setup there is 4 bearings holding the axle 2 in the center and 2 on the outer sides closer to the wheels. It should hold up no problems.
