So. I have an old clubcar 36v golf cart motor with a splined out-put shaft so I can easily mount a sprocket on. My question is how can I make speed controller to control the motor, obviously I could buy and expensive brand new speed control, but I'm on a tight budget.... So, and I know this is crazy but what if I put 4 or 5 in these in parallel http://www.ebay.com/itm/371321889671 ? Would that work? (I'm not quite sure if it is parallel or series, but it would be the master + and - wires and one of each wires would split off to each one of the controllers... etc. you get it) Would this even be possible or would everything catch on fire? If there is, and there most likely is, a better way to make an inexpensive speed controller then I would like to hear it.
And I want to make a mini bike/speed-racer-tron-bike-esque speed machine and having the 36v motor might be over-kill so I can drop the voltage to 24 or whatever works.
Thanks,
Nick

Oh and could a dimmer switch work?
