I brought this gokart about a 1 month ago. The chap I purchased it off started it in front of me and showed me how to start it. Unfortunately I think I forgotten the process. It was on a trolley when he started it so I believe it isn't one of those karts you need a mate to push you in ... although I could be wrong as well.

I have made a brief video of the kart and me, and I have tried to provide an intro to the kart and also try to undertake the process of starting it.

All help is greatly appreciated.

The video link is provided below.

Could you maybe also post a couple of pics of the kart, engine and drivetrain.

I see from your vid that you say you don't know where the kill switch is. This may be your problem. Post thaose pics of your engine, as well as any wires coming out of it, and we will see if we can help

You may be on to something there...

Does it have spark at the plug? Remove the plug lead & ground it with a screwdriver. Rest it on the engine & turn it over.

Hey everyone

I solved the problem on the kart. Basically what was happening was the rear disc brake was stuck on this box. Hence when the engine tried to move the wheels ... it didn't happen because the disc brake was stuck.

I am going to take this situation as a good reason to purchase a proper trolley for the kart.

I have made another video saying thanks. The kart starts well ... very well infact.

Now to find out the following

- Where I insert the oil and check it (I can't find this which is rather annoying)

- And how to add brake fluid into the resevior as I only see two nuts on it.

Your engine is a 2-cycle, it doesn't use oil in the crankcase.
You have to mix the recommended amount of 2-cycle oil in with its petrol.

I couldn't see your master cylinder very clearly in your video but it should have some type of lid or a fill port on top that unscrews to add brake fluid. If not, it will have an external reservoir tank with hose running down into the top of the master cylinder.

I couldn't find your engine manual online, but you could probably order one here at this link: http://www.merlinkart.com/en/home.html
(click on the union jack for English)

The manual will have info about correct oil/fuel mix ratios and recommended carburetor adjustments.

If there is no external reservoir it is probably a sealed system which means if you are getting low on brake fluid it's probably time to replace your pads. In doing this you push the pistons in the caliper back which refills the reservoir
