go kart tube size need info

Ok so I plan on building a small go kart what size tubing do I need like thickness... it's gonna have a 3 hp and it's not gonna be beat to death it will be on flat ground and tack a lot also what is a better bolt on bearing

Also it's gonna have a number 40 clutch with 10 teeth what does the sprocket needs to be not looking for it to fly

80 tooth sprocket with a 10 tooth clutch, 11" tires will give you 15mph.

As for the rest, I'm sure someone can give you a better answer than what I could give you. Just give them a minute

I would go for 1-1.5 inch square tubing as it is a lot easier to work with that circular tubing, and for the thickness i used 16 guage when i built my scooter, and it has held up fine. Some people use 14 guage and some say that 16 is a bit too thin, but i have had no problems with it yet.

No. 2x3" is beyond overkill for a 3hp kart, it will end up being too heavy (think about it, 3 times the material = 3 times the weight); 1x1" 16ga is plenty & can be found in 20' lengths at any steel supplier for around $30...

Thats going to still be rather thick... You would also want it to be square, so 1x2 would just be adding extra weight, it would look weird, and would be harder to work with... Why not just go 1x1?

They don't have 1x1 that's there smallest size is 1x2 and if I get it shipped from a site it's like 25 bucks shipping but I don't think it would look weird. That's what's most of the mini mower/Go kart are made out of

I see a problem, 11" tires with a 80 tooth #40 sprocket won't work, sprockets too big.

Ya I'd go only to about 64t/#40 and that would give about 1/2" thereabouts of clearance...

No, those are 6 inch rims, not 6 inch tires. When you measure tires diameter for gearing you measure the entire tire, top to bottom.

If I'm reading those correctly, I'm going to guess they are aprox. 10" OD.
