Go Kart torque converter

Hey, well i'm having a problem with a torque converter that its mounted on my Manco 445 go kart. The torque converter i have is a Comet 30 series.The issue i have is the two units (driver & driven) are not parallel when mounted. I notice that when i drive the belt bends between the two and adds unneeded wear on the belt. I have read up on other websites and it says that the two units should be perfectly aligned. I was wondering if this is normal or if i have to fix it. Thanks!

And this site is not going to disagree.

Either move the engine over (driver unit must be firmly against PTO shaft shoulder) or move the driven.

You need a bushing (spacer) between the driver and the engine. You can get a 1" long one at the hardware store and cut it down to fit your needs. You may need to get a longer bolt that holds the driver on, so check that before you make a trip to the store.

I'm not sure if this will work because of the length of the engine shaft. I wouldn't want the driver unit to be held on by just a 1/4 inch on the shaft.

i was actually able to fix this problem by simply re-arranging the sprocket and driven unit around on the jack shaft
