I am trying to install a Comet 30 series torque coverter on my 6.5hp Kohler engine. I am using the middle mounting holes on the plate. The one to the left is too steep of an angle and the one to the right is not usable because the plate then hits the engine. When I line it up with the middle holes, the plate doesn't sit flush against the engine. I believe the triangle pieces of metal reinforcing the shaft for the driven clutch is hitting where you fill the engine with oil. I have watched many many videos on installing these and everyone cuts the oil fill cap, which I did. Has anyone had this problem? Is my kohler engine slightly different from the predator engines or is there an extra one of those triangle pieces on the torque converter plate? I want to avoid cutting the triangle piece for warranty reasons, but is that the problem? Let me know if there is any other information that would help. Thanks!
